March Madness Challenge
So many residents in Catawba County live with food insecurity. Our March Madness Challenge is a campaign that addresses this issue by encouraging a little friendly competition between churches, offices, schools, clubs, and even individuals to donate food items or make financial donations in the name of their favorite March Madness NCAA basketball team! Events such as the March Madness Challenge help ECCCM meet the growing demands of hunger in Catawba County. 100% of ECCCM clients are put on a hunger prevention program.
In 2019 we first introduced this new event, and for a first time undertaking it proved very successful! Each year since, the event has been even more successful in participant numbers, and in the amount of food and monetary donations! We hope that this year we can ignite the madness by encouraging other NCAA team fans to join in this fun competition! On March 1st, be ready for the 2023 March Madness Challenge! We will spread the word through our newsletter, social media outlets, and through mailings to our supporting churches, but please personally set out to involve your own organizations in this fun competition. We will end the challenge officially at 11:59 p.m. on April 5th.
This year we are operating on a point system to determine the winner. Slam dunks ( each one pound of food donations) will count as 2 points. Since our nonprofit purchasing power allows us to purchase more for the dollar, each one dollar donation counts as a 3-pointer! If you would like to join us in the challenge, please consider downloading our flyer, posting it, and advertising it in your office, church, small group, or club, and collect donations. If you would like to print the info sheet on the above right, click here. All March Madness donations are needed by April 5th. Monetary donations can be made safely below. Thank you!
